Supporting Adults with Disabilities in Choosing and Realizing Their Vision of Where and How They Live

Located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Journeys in Community Living is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3, organization dedicated to supporting adults with disabilities in choosing and realizing their visions of where and how they live, work and socialize.

Live

Life is meant to be enjoyed fully by all. Participating in your community fully requires daily interaction and communication with individuals, groups, and other organizations. At Journeys, our supported persons are prepared for real-world settings – ready to shop at their favorite store, dine with their friends and family, or volunteer for local programs.

Work

Doing a job well and working hard brings a great sense of pride. Our job placement specialists help those looking for employment obtain a regular income while honing their skills and learning new ones at the same time. A sense of identity is forged through employment, and it facilitates meeting new people and increasing social interaction. Through this process, our supported persons are working at a meaningful job which they enjoy.

Socialize

The benefits of having friends and other relationships are numerous. In addition to helping our supported persons avoid loneliness and isolation, it also enhances their memory and well-being. Journeys is committed to ensuring that our supported persons are fully integrated into their regular neighborhoods and communities at large. Participants of the Supported Living Program live in their own homes, with staff teaching them such skills as cooking, housekeeping, grocery shopping, and money management.
